Whose site is it, anyway? The posts are scheduled, written and updated by Steve Brisendine, a freelance writer based in Mission. The site and logo were designed by his friend and writing partner, Seánan Forbes (who is also a talented art photographer).
Doesn’t he do art photography, too? Yes. But he promises to never make himself a featured artist on artKC365.
How will this be different from other online arts calendars? This will be the only site to focus on one artist per day — an artist whose work is showing on that day in the Kansas City area.
Why daily? Because the KC arts community is big and vibrant enough to make that worthwhile.
Will it feature only well-known artists? The site will focus on new artists — including art students — as well as established ones.
Is this just a one-year project? There’s no reason it should be. Shows open and new artists emerge all the time. Kansas City’s good for far more than twelve months’ worth of posts.
Will you update on holidays? The site launched on a holiday — so yes.
Who pays for a listing — the artist or the gallery? This isn’t pay-to-play. The aim is to make artKC365 advertiser-supported (and venues will be more than welcome to place institutional ads), but there is no cover charge.
So how can I, or an artist I’m showing, be included? Put artKC365 on your mailing list. Send emails to steve@artkc365.com. If your show is selected, you will be contacted for images and other information. If it’s not, keep trying. The goal is to get everyone listed once before anybody gets a replay.
Seriously … 365 posts on 365 artists in 365 days? Are you nuts? Probably a little – but maybe that helps.

Hi, Adolfo:
I would very much like to put you on the site. I saw your work at the Nerman (We talked briefly.) and really enjoyed it. The tag has been fixed to the correct name, and I have updated your website information in the post. Thanks, Steve

okay… so no cover charge.. but is there a drink minimum? Just kidding.. I love the idea of showcasing an artist daily. Even here in NYC not enough is done to celebrate the diversity of the artworld. I’ll keep checking in!
